Who is Korrina?

Mom. Wife. Friend. Full-time Treasury Analyst. Aspiring Personal Trainer/Coach — working on my NASM - CPT. I have a bachelors degree in Accounting, but I started going to school for Vocal Music Performance. I love singing and performing. I used to have a family band made up of my mom, grandma and occasionally my uncle, we called ourselves Buggy Whipp. We do have a few videos on YouTube if you are interested in checking that out. What made me change majors, well I figured music was not going to make me very much money and would be better off as a hobby, so I chose to go for accounting. I have been married for 8.5 years. I have two boys — Killian (5 years old) and Porter (almost 3 years old). We also have a 7-year-old German Shepherd, Zooey Dog Chanel.

What made you want to start your fitness journey?

I have been overweight and unhappy about my body nearly my whole life growing up.  I have never been “skinny” or even what I would call “fit”. I knew I wanted to make a change in my life. I started out pre-kids at a small group fitness gym and was also doing weight watchers to figure out how to eat better.  After having Killian, and eating whatever I wanted during that pregnancy, I was unhappy with my weight and what I looked like post-baby, but I didn’t take the time for myself to workout and start a new routine. After having Porter, I was depressed and so negative about my self-image and did not have any self-confidence.  I decided to start my fitness journey over at Farrells Extreme BodyShaping. I really fell in love with kickboxing and lifting there and I became a fitness instructor of both kickboxing and strength training formats. I still wanted more though and I had been following Angie Okon and Okon Fitness for a while and decided to do that on top of instructing classes.

What inspires you most?

I am inspired the most by the people around me.  I love the group boot camps that Okon puts on, because when I work out with or even around other people it pushes and inspires me to do better and lift heavier. I am inspired by people that get the work done despite having a family and a full-time job. They make time for themselves and that’s what I want to continue to do.

What have been the biggest obstacles getting started?

The biggest obstacles getting started was money, but just know that “you are worth it”, will it be hard, yes, but is it worth it most definitely. The team will be there for you every step of the way! We got your back.

Why did you choose to work with Okon Fitness?

I chose to work with Okon Fitness because I have been following Angie and Okon Fitness on Insta for a while and I love doing her workouts and I love how much of a real (NOT FAKE at all) person she is. She keeps it real all the time. Also seeing all of the results of her other clients was inspiring and I wanted to be one of them!

Being a busy hard working woman, how have you managed all the things in your life?

I have to go in with a plan. I meal prep on Sundays, and I have recently gotten help from my husband on the meal prep, which has been really nice. Another thing with meal prep — you have to keep it simple, and even if its simple you can still add spices to make things different.

Have those around you been supportive?

Most people around me have been supportive of my journey, but there are and there will be haters out there. Those haters or nonsupportive people are really most likely jealous of all of the progress that you have made and wish they could do what you do.  Keep on keeping on.

Do you have any mottos or sayings that you live by every day?

"Believe to achieve.” You have to believe in yourself if you are going to achieve what you want. Another is a word that I actually have tattooed on my wrist, “Be.” It is to remind me to always be — be whatever I want to be, be strong, be me, just be.

What is some advice you have for someone who is just getting started?

Trust the process, and push yourself. If you need help or anything along the way we got you!

Fun fact about Korrina?

I love singing and dancing. I would do karaoke any night of the week.

Ground turkey (taco seasoning), mini bell peppers, avocado, and a low carb wrap! YUM!!!

Sushi from Hajime and Ice Cream from MN Nice Cream

Favorite lift?

I love lifting back, shoulders, and legs — so pretty much I don’t have a favorite. I love lifting!
